NPC Recruitment 2023 Update: NPC Heightens Hope on Enumerators and Supervisors Training as 2023 Census Preparation Continues

The National Population Commission has continued preparations for the 2023 Population and Housing Census Exercise even as the main Census Date is yet to be fixed.

NPC on Tuesday announced that "ahead of the upcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census, the Chairman of National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, received in audience a delegation from the SDG Youth International at the Commission’s Headquarters, Abuja.

"The team led by its Country Representative for Nigeria/African Regional Representative, Ifeanyi Uzoh came to donate 200kw Solar Energy System Assistance in support of the Green Census Initiative of the Commission in the forthcoming Census exercise."

Also in the preparation are series of Census Education being conducted by the NPC, to enlighten Nigerians on how the 2023 Census would be conducted, and how they can help to actualise the first digital Census in the Country.

The NPC has also partnered the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to register a minimum of 12 million eligible children under the age 5 years in the country.

The objectives of the NPC Birth Registration includes issuance of birth certificates that provides names and nationality of every child in the selected under-registered States in the Country.

Speaking on the partnership, the NPC Chairman affirms, "We are fully committed to facilitating the recruitment of ad hoc birth registrars at the ward level and ensuring the availability of registration materials to coordinators and supervisors. Through the dissemination of protocols, checklists, FAQs, and informational resources, our objective is to actively engage local government chairpersons, traditional and religious leaders, as well as communities, in emphasizing the significance of birth registration. Together, we will collect and analyze digitized birth registration data at the LGAs and wards, ultimately expanding the scope of birth registration coverage."

The NPC when contacted on the Enumerators and Supervisors Training Date stated that the Training Date for the Enumerators and Supervisors will be announced soonest.

Recall that the NPC had in a Press Statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Isiaka Yahaya, disclosed that the commission has made preparations to recruit, train and deploy 786,741 Adhoc Staff across the 36 States plus FCT for the 2023 Census Exercise.

Breaking down the number of the Adhoc Staff according to Duties and Functions, Yahaya stated that 623,797 Enumerators, 125,944 Supervisors, 24,001 Data Quality Assistants, 12,000 Field Cordinators, 1,000 Data Quality Managers, 1,639 Training Center Adminstrators, and 59,000 LGA Facilitators constitute the 786,741 NPC Adhoc Staff for 2023 Census.

The NPC said it has successfully recruited and trained the Facilitators and Specialised workforce but yet to commence the LGA level training for the Enumerators and Supervisors.
