Farouk debunks Punch Publication, says 1 Million Npower beneficiaries approved by Buhari

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk has on Friday debunked a publication by PUNCH Newspaper titled "Npower to accommodate additional Five Million Beneficiaries - FG"

According to the Punch Publication on Friday https://punchng.com/n-power-to-accommodate-additional-five-million-beneficiaries-f, "the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has ordered the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to increase beneficiaries of the N-Power programme by five million."

"The Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Sadiya Farouq, said the President directed her ministry to accommodate more N-Power beneficiaries, adding that Batch-C of the scheme, which admitted over one million persons, had been inaugurated.

"She disclosed this at the handing over of feeding utensils by the humanitarian ministry to beneficiaries of the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, another NSIP scheme, in Nasarawa State."

Farouk in an official statement described the publication as Fake noting that 1 Million Npower beneficiaries was approved by the President not 5 Million.

The Npower Batch C Programme in which the 1 Million approved beneficiaries was to be engaged in two Streams has succefully onboarded 510,000 Npower beneficiaries in the Stream 1 consisting of 450,000 Graduates and 60,0000 Non graduates, and has commenced payment of their monthly Stipends.

The Ministry also has commenced processing of the Stream 2 Batch C Npower beneficiaries  which will be made up of 490,000 Npower Beneficiary.

In overall, 1 million Npower beneficiaries will be engaged in the Batch C Npower Programme not 5 Million Npower beneficiaries.
