SMEDAN debunks N35 Million Loan Scheme, NEDIS COVID-19 Special Fund

The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has declared a N35 Milion Loan Scheme purported to have emanated from the Agency as Fake while alerting the public to be wary of the fraudulent tactics.

According to the Management, fraudulent messages distributed to the members of the public via Social Media requests the payment of N5,000 as a criterion for accessing the fund.

SMEDAN in an official statement on Friday stated:

"The attention of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has been drawn to the existence of messages going around which claim to be granting a loan of 35 million and asking people to call Mr. Nasir on 08074473030, and also telling people to pay the sum of 5,000 for business plan fee and asking them to contact info@smedan.gov.ng.

"The Agency wishes to notify the general public that SMEDAN has no dealings or collaborations whatsoever with those behind the message and therefore dis-associates itself from the Organization.

"The general public are therefore warned that SMEDAN will not be liable for any loss arising from any transaction carried out with them."

SMEDAN had also in July dis-associated itself from a COVID-19 Special Fund named NEDIS COVID-19 Special Fund 2021 for SMEs, Farmers and Traders.

The Agency noted that it is not in collaboration with the Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) for any loan Scheme, adding that it will not be liable for any loss arising from any transaction carried out with NEDIS.

"The attention of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, (SMEDAN) has been drawn to the existence of an Organization called Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) which claims to be granting a loan called THE NEDIS COVID-19 SPECIAL FUND 2021 for SMEs, Farmers and Traders.

"The Agency wishes to notify the general public that SMEDAN has no dealings or collaborations whatsoever with Nigeria Enterprises Development Interactive Scheme (NEDIS) and therefore dis-associates itself from the Organization.

"The general public are therefore warned that SMEDAN will not be liable for any loss arising from any transaction carried out with NEDIS.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed," the Agency stated.
