The Federal Government has extended the on going National Identification Number (NIN) and Subscribers Identity Module (SIM) integration exercise by 8 weeks, with a new deadline of April 6, 2021.
This was made known to the general public, Tuesday, in a press statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Nigeria Communication Commissions (NCC), Dr Ikechukwu Adinde and the Head of Corporate Communications, National Identity Management Commision, Mr Kayode Adegoke.
Dr Isa Pantami, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy during the meeting of Ministerial Taskforce on NIN-SIM registration held on 1st February, 2021 stated that the extention is to give Nigerians and Legal Residents more time to integrate their NIN with their SIMs.

The Federal Government commended the efforts of Nigerians in complying with the directives noting that so far a total of 58.6 Million NIN have been linked with SIMs as collected by the mobile Network operators.
Pantami further disclosed that the Federal Government has activated and made operational over 1,060 NIN Registration Centers across the Federation adding that Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have also opened hundreds of NIN registration Centers and are rapidly deploying resources to open thousands of the Centers across the States of the Country to ease the NIN Registration and NIN-SIM integration process.
The Nigerian Government however implored Nigerians to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 Prevention Protocols especially through the use of the Booking System so as to curb the spread of the disease in the course of the NIN registration.
