Humanitarian Affairs Minister addresses Npower Payment Challenges, assures speedy payment of Beneficiaries

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, has assured the beneficiaries of the Federal Government Npower Programme that the new ministry is working on resolving delayed payment of Npower beneficiaries Stipends.

The Minister gave the assurance while responding to a Radio Interaction Segment with Radio Nigeria earlier today.

According to Dr Edu, the challenges faced in terms of Stipends delay is being addressed.

"We will change the modalities so that people will get their delayed stipends", she added.

Dr Edu further disclosed the ministry's resolve to include more people in the Npower Programme, relaunch it with a renewed hope concept so that many more Nigerians can benefit from the programme.


"The Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Ministry under the Administration of President Bola Tinubu will address poverty with job creation, get cash transfer across to poor Nigerians, engage the nutrition department , support micro small and medium enterprise, provide stimulus to their business etc.

"I, promised to reduce and curtail humanitarian crisis in Nigeria, manage and respond to the crisis on time and permanently remove the poorest of the poor from humanitarian crisis.

"Nigerians should be rest assured that all existing empowerments within the National Investment Programme will be rejigged, made more effective and to cover more Nigerians.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a huge economic plans for Nigeria; some are short term goals which the ministry will soon implement and some are long term goals, Nigerians should trust the process.

"In order to ensure effective disbursement of palliative; Independent monitors will be brought on board to guarantee the relief materials satisfactory reach.

"The Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Ministry will also send their staff to the 774 local government areas to get feedback and further engage in the palliative tracking, this is still in formative stage. This Palliative tracking will be done technologically as to digitally attest to the time, location, household, individual delivered to, etc.

"For N-Power: The experienced challenges faced in terms of stipends delay is being addressed. We will change the modalities so that people will get their delayed stipends, include more people and relaunch it with a renewed hope concept.

"The Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Ministry long term goals tends to establish Humanitarian hubs across Nigeria.

"The hubs will accommodate home grown commodities, which will be sold at cheaper rates to Nigerians."
