Npower Work Nation, NEXIT Loan Programme, Two Best Intentions for Npower Beneficiaries

The 3 Months Stipends paid to the Batch C1 Npower beneficiaries, even as their 1 year Programme has ended, could not be explained by many of the beneficiaries.

While some beneficiaries asserted that the September, October and November Stipends were paid as an extention of the Batch C1 Programme, the Npower management clearly stated that there is no extention of the Batch C1 Npower beneficiaries.

But after the Batch C1 September, October and November Stipends were paid, all attention were shifted from the Npower Work Nation and protest which could have been organised by the beneficiaries.

Good Intention, Poor Implementation

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, in a bid to transit the outgoing Batch C Stream 1 Npower beneficiaries into golden opportunities, introduced the Work Nation Programme.

According to the Ministry in a Statement titled, "WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE INTRODUCTION OF WORKNATION", Work Nation is Africas' talent/skill acquisition platform where talents/skills are developed and are connected to opportunities across the globe.

The Ministry stated that the necessity of the Work Nation Programme was to ensure that the alarming rate of unemployment in the country is curtailed.

"To ensure the alarming rate of unemployment in the country is curtailed, Federal Government has taken further step ahead to introduce WORK NATlON program where the out gone Npower C1 Beneficiaries
will be trained/retrained and connected to opportunities across the globe," NASIMS stated.

The Npower Management encouraged the outgoing Batch C1 Npower beneficiaries, whom Work Nation Test displays on their Dashboards, to embrace the life-changing opportunity and wait patiently for the selection stage.

According to information contained in the Work Nation Official Website https://worknation.ng, Work Nation prepares talents to meet specific industry needs in line with global shifts in the nature of work and skill set demands.

The Work Nation offers training and job opportunites in the areas of Business Analysis, Customer Service, Engineering, Accounting, Management, Construction, Full Stack Development, Petroleum Engineering, Administrative Assistant, Marketing, Customer Service Representative, Aviation, Sales Management, Mechanical Engineering, Data Analyst, Human Resources, and more.

This good intention ended with a 3-month Stipend of N90,000, leaving the beneficiaries to continue in job hunt.

Similar situation was the introduction of NEXIT Loan Programme to Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries at a time the beneficiaries had taken to the street to protest their sudden disengagement from the Npower Programme.

The NEXIT Loan was described as a means of providing Soft Loan ranging from N250,000 to N3,000,0000 to enable each of the Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries start up businesses and better their lives.

The NEXIT Loan programme was dampened by media propaganda through which it was claimed that the Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries have been completely settled.

The question remains, is Npower Programme solving the Unemployement in the country as it was established to accomplish, and widely broadcast through the media.

Considering the huge amount of funds spent by the Federal Government on the Npower programme, one would doubt that the beneficiaries would at the end their programmes, continue to wallow in unemployment.
