NEXIT Loan: An anticipated impossibility, the Hues and the Cues

Waking up in the morning, everyone expects to see beautiful faces, smiles and magnificent pleasantries. Yea, No one wants to hear what is not positive or hopeful; even me too.

But would it be beautiful if you live in false hope and wrong anticipation whilst feeling happy that one day it will come, not knowing that you are in a long long thing.

This is the case of NEXIT Loan for Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries and I will try to be brief.

Straight to the point, let's call a Spade, Spade. It does hurt but with time, you will get over it just like many, including me has done.

NEXIT LOAN remains a mirage that even the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disater Management and Social Development wouldn't want to address any longer.

NEXIT Loan was a way of dousing tension, and in other way, a way of getting back - let's not empty the can of warms here. Just try and keep it in the past.

It resurfaced online within the week that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development would disburse N250,000 to N500,000 NEXIT Loan to the exited Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries. It is hopeful but it is terrible to live in false hope.

It has been over a year the promise of NEXIT Loan was made followed by the commencement of the registration, yet no significant implementation has been recorded. Do you need a Prophet to tell you NEXIT Loan is a political promise?

Let me take you back a little bit: in a defence of a question raised by one Bethel Chigbo during a Chatham House Africa Programme in September, 2021, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk, stated that the exited beneficiaries of Batch A and B Npower Programme would commence Trianing in October, as part of processes for the disbursement of the NEXIT Loan.

In October, a group of 1,850 Youths were selected across the 36 States plus FCT to be trained as Mobile Money transactions agents under the Shared Agency Network Expansion Facility (SANEF).

Recall that the Shared Agency Network Expansion Facility (SANEF) was mentioned by the Minister as one of the ways of transiting the exited Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries.

But the selection and Training of the 1,850 youths remain a folk Tale to the 500,000 exited beneficiaries of the Batch A and B Npower Programme.

The unfolding reality is that 500,000 Npower Batch A and B have been replaced by the current 1 million Batch C. This definitely sounds crazy but that is the truth.

As at now and close to one month, payment of the Batch C Stream 1 Npower beneficiaries has been a disturbing issue at hand while NEXIT Loan, NEXIT Package or NEXIT Loan disbursement is the least of issues bothering the Ministry for now.

Still expecting an official statement on the disbursement of the NEXIT Loan, don't worry, it will be a part of another campeign promise as 2023 draws closer.
