NSIP: GEEP launches WhatsApp Platform, prepares for new enrolment

The Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) has announced it's launch of a Whatsapp Platform for direct communication so as to enhance quick services to beneficiaries and intending beneficiaries of the Scheme.

The Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) was launched in 2016 with the aim to offer interest and collateral free credit to the millions of Micro SMEs (MSMEs) operating at the bottom of the Nigerian economic pyramid. The program has leveraged on 3 loan products, so far, to support small to medium sized businesses. The programme’s current loan products are: MarketMoniTraderMoni and FarmerMoni.

The Bank of Industry (BOI) has commenced plans for the enrolment of more Nigerians in the GEEP Programme in 2021.

Who is eigible for GEEP Loan

Every trader, artisan & farmer in Nigeria is eligible for a GEEP loan. GEEP loans are designed to provide credit to small businesses with a convenient repayment period of 6 months.

How much can a beneficiary access

The program provides collateral and interest free loans between 10,000 – 350,000 Naira to traders, artisans and farmers across Nigeria.

How can one register for GEEP Loan

Registrations are done by GEEP enumerators using a specialised app on smartphones or tablets only (no paper, no forms). The agents capture biodata, GPS location and facial IDs of the trader and their business. GEEP currently has over 4,000 agents in market clusters across Nigeria.
