N-Power N30,700 FG Grant is Fake - Beware

A trending text message has resulted in social tension as it claims to offer a grant of N30,700 purportedly from the Federal Government to selected  N-power Volunteers who had recieved the message while instructing them to "claim it now" by further releasing their essential details.

"N-power: Congratulations, You are eligible to be rewarded with N30,700 in Npower FG Grant. Claim it now http://bit.ly/NPOWER-GRANTS", the fraudulent message stated.

Investigation reveals that the text message is Fake and fraudulent as the Federal Government has never advertised a grant of N30,700 for N-power beneficiaries or for Nigerians in the course of it's Social or COVID-19 Intervention Programs, through any of its official channels.

Further investigation reveals that the bit.ly shortened website is  https://npower.gov.ng.claim-lt.online/#1611853346075 which claims to offer Concessional Grant of N500 Billion to Youths and Small Business; N100 Billion to the Education and Health Industries and N1 Trillion to large Agricultural and Manufacturing Businesses.

N-power Beneficiaries who had gotten such text message may have suffered phone number theft from N-power Whatsapp Groups, Fraudulent adverts on Social Media Forums or filled a fake form online.

The N-power Beneficiaries who had received the message should as a matter of urgency delete the message and cut further communication through the web link to avoid further data phishing or account hacking.
