MSME Survival Fund: Artisans/Transporters to apply in groups, date fixed

The Federal Government has stated that in a bid to ensure the success of credible Nigerians in benefiting from the N75billion MSME Survival Funds, applicants in the Artisans/Transport Support category would apply in their various associations and unions.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu on Public Affairs, Ajuri Ngelale disclosed the arrangement yesterday in an interactive segment of the MoneyLine Program with Nancy Nnaji on African Independent Televission (AIT).

Ajuri clarified that in Nigeria, there are associations such as the Okada Riders  Association, Keke Riders Association or Unions such as the Union of Road Transport workers and others which can clearly identify an individual as a member of the Transport category, noting that such association are applicable to Artisans such as the Tailors, Plumbers, Brick layers, Block moulders, mechanics, repairers, Vulcanisers, Barbers, etc.

"This is to ensure that the beneficiaries are individuals who truly need  it, have families to cater for and not those who are just on Twitter waiting for application portal to open without any MSME experience," Ajuri emphasised.

The SSA to the President pointed out that as long as one can be identified and validated as a member of a union or association of a related skill not minding wether one is a driver, motor-conductor, mechanic, plumber, tailor or mason man, one is eligible to benefit from the one time grant for the Artisans and Transport Supports category.

Ajuri furthered that from 15th October, 2020, next week, the program would commence fully for other categories including the Formalisation Support i.e. the free CAC Registration for 250,000 unregistered MSMEs, noting that the Federal Government had cleared the payment for the CAC Certificates with Corporate Affairs Commission.

Ajuri added that the process of the subsequent registration just as the Payrol Support, would be in batches so as to ensure that the registration portal does not crash as seen during the registration for the N-power program.
