COVID-19 Mid-day Update: Nigeria discharges 11, Confirms 10 New cases as Global record surge above 1 million


The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Thursday 2nd April announced that Nigeria has discharged 11 COVID-19 victims in Lagos, and recorded 10 New confirmed cases bringing the total number of Confirmed cases to 184.

The Agency noted that as at 8:00 pm Thursday, 7 New cases were recorded in Lagos while 3 new cases were recorded in FCT.

The discharge of 11 COVID-19 victims ushered a great hope to the Nigerian populace as it lifted the number of recoveries to 20 evidently proving the capability of the Nigerian medical team in managing the pandamic.

Even though the agency stated that there may be about 6,000 possible contacts of the confirmed victims, deaths in Nigeria has remain at 2.

Around the world today, as at 11:30 am, number of Confirmed cases has towered to 1,030,181 while number of Death surged to 54,198. Recoveries around the world has risen to 219,824.

Confirmed cases in Spain has risen above Italy at 117,710, directly below USA at 245,380. Italy death toll has climbed to 13,915, Spain at 10,935 while USA is at 6,095.

Italy among other countries such as  France, UK, Netherlands, Canada and Turkey where there are remarkable number of COVID-19 Confirmed cases have recorded no new confirmed case and no new death.

China has recorded 31 New cases and 4 New deaths bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 81,620 and 3,322 deaths. Recovery in the country has remained high at 76,571 followed by Spain at 30,513.

In Africa today, there has been 6,767 Confirmed cases, 237 Deaths and 669 Recoveries.

Algeria has recorded the highest number of Deaths at 86 followed by Egypt at 52, Morocco 47, Burkina Fasso at 16 and Tunisia at 14 even though South Africa is most hit with confirmed cases at 1,462 followed by Algeria at 986, Egypt at 850 and Morocco at 691. Egyp has recorded the highest number of recoveries at 201 in Africa.
