N-power: Has FG terminated NEXIT Plan

It has been more than a week the NEXIT Portal shutdown while thousands of the exited Batch A and B N-power Beneficiaries are yet to apply for the Programme and the purpose of the plan unrealized.

The most shocking of all is that the Federal Ministry of HumanitarianAffairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has failed to make any official statement on the development nor fixed the NEXIT Registration Portal https://nexit-fmhds.cbn.gov.ng.

The NEXIT Plan officially launched on 27th Nov, 2020 soon after the #EndSars Protest, to address the plight of the disengaged 500,000 N-power Beneficiaries who had conducted several protests on the streets of Nigeria, especially Abuja, even before the #EndSars Protest.

During the launch of the Portal, the Federal Ministry Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in a statement signed by the Minister's Media Assistant, Mrs Nneka Ikem Anibueze stated "a Portal that will enable Exited N-Power Beneficiaries to apply for Central Bank of Nigeria Empowerment Options has been launched by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development."

The Ministry encouraged interested Exited Beneficiaries of N- Power to log on to the portal and provide the required additional information for possible placements into the various CBN intervention options.

Five Months into the NEXIT Registration and several challanges that hampered the smoothness of the process, the portal has remained inaccessible for more than a week now, and unaddressed.

As at the time the portal was shutdown, the exited N-power Beneficiaries were on a Twitter Protest calling on the Federal Government to not only implement the NEXIT Plan but also pay the Stipends of about 12,000 N-power Beneficiaries owed for about 3 months before their disengagememt in June/July, 2020.

Some accounts of the protesting N-power Beneficiaries were however Suspended on Twitter, report says.

While the question on wether the NEXIT Plan has been terminated hovers on the minds of the beneficiaries, the silence of the Ministry even after one week, signals discontinuation of the Plan.
