Scam Alert: FG 3 Million Naira Grant is Fake - Federal Government warns

The Federal Government has warned the general public to be wary of a fake website circulating through the Social Media which instigates the public to release their personal informations for a fake Grant of 3 Million Naira purportedly from the Federal Government.

The circulating messages through Whatsapp and Facebook states:

"Dont miss this federal governemt 3 Million grant.  it takes fews seconds to apply. Dont miss this great opportunity.  Apply Here  https://bit.ly/2G74Mek"

The website shortened with bit.ly is https://www.myexpertng.com/grant which mimics similar theme and logo of official government website and poses a threat to the public as it requests the application for a fake grant with essential would-be-victim's personal information, phished for fraudulent purposes.

The Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning notifying the public via a tweet hours ago, noted that application for Federal Government programs are conducted through official Government websites and channels.

"It has come to our attention that a link is being shared via social media requesting for applications for a FG 3 Million grant. The general public should note that this is a SCAM. Any requests for applications are only via official channels & websites. Pls beware! #FinMinNigeria," the Ministry stated.

The perpetrators of cyber crime are espectedly to be on the high side of strategies to defraud the public especially as the Federal Government presents several Loan and Grant opportunities to Nigerians as part of it's National Economic Sustainability Plan to enable Nigerians overcome the post-COVID-19 business crawl across the country.

It's imperative at this time to inform the public that application for Federal Government programs are free and at no time or stage would the government request for money for processing or fast-tracking any of it's economic sustainability plan to Nigerians in the form of Loan or Grant.
