COVID-19: 4,151 Cases, 745 Recoveries, 128 Deaths as the battle against COVID-19 intensifies in Nigeria

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed that Nigeria friday, recorded 239 New confirmed cases bringing total number of Confirmed cases in the country to 4,151.

NCDC stated that as of 9th May, 2020, there were 97 confirmed cases in Lagos, 44 in Bauchi, 29 in Kano, 19 in Katsina, 17 in Borno, 7 in FCT, 6 in Kwara, 5 in Oyo, 3 in Kaduna, 3 in Sokoto, 2 in Adamawa, 2 in Kebbi, 2 in Plateau, 2 in Ogun and 1 in Ekiti.
The Agency noted that there were 66 new recoveries and 11 new deaths which has tilted the total number of recoveries and total death toll to 745 and 128 respectively.

Current breakdown is as follows:

  • The 66 Recoveries were reported as 45 in Abuja, 10 in Kano, 5 in Gombe, 6 in Sokoto.
  • While the recent 11 deaths were reported as 4 in FCT, 3 in Borno, 1 in Kaduna, 1 in Nasarawa and 2 in Kebbi.
Analysis from the current report from NCDC indicates that Lagos has 448 recovered victims, 85 in Abuja, 30 in Osun, 12 in Edo, 14 in Oyo, 28 in Ogun, 14 in Kaduna, 10 in Akwaibom, 4 in Ekiti, 4 in Rivers, 2 in Enugu, 9 in Kwara, 6 in Bauchi, 6 in Ondo, 30 in Kano, 9 in Katsina, 15 in Gombe, 3 in Delta, 0 in Borno, 1 in Abia, 2 in Niger, 0 in Jigawa1 in Anambra, 1 in Imo, 0 in Benue, 10 in Sokoto and 1 in Plateau.

The death toll as reported by NCDC indicates that Lagos has recorded 33 Deaths, 8 in Abuja, 18 in Kano, 9 in Katsina, 4 in Edo, 3 in Delta, 2 in Akwaibom and 15 in Borno, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Ondo, 1 in Ekiti, 4 in Ogun, 2 in Rivers, 4 in Osun, 9 in Sokoto, 3 in Kaduna, 1 in Yobe, 1 in Zamfara, 3 in Nasarawa, 1 in Jigawa and 1 in Bauchi, bringing the total death toll to 117.

The statistical report from NCDC also indicates that there are 1,283 Active cases in Lagos, 250 in FCT, 528 in Kano, 4 in Osun, 48 in Oyo, 51 in Edo, 83 in Ogun, 138 in Katsina, 20 in Kwara, 5 in Akwaibom, 154 in Bauchi, 81 in Kaduna, 11 in Delta, 9 in Ondo, 8 in Ekiti, 8 in Enugu15 in Rivers, 4 in Niger, 82 in Jigawa, 2 in Benue, 0 in Anambra, 144 in Borno, 98 in Gombe, 1 in Abia, 77 in Sokoto, 17 in Adamawa, 16 in Plateau, 62 in Zamfara, 2 in Imo, 15 in Taraba, 18 in Kebbi, 7 in Ebonyi, 5 in Bayelsa, 23 in Nasarawa, 12 in Yobe.

Cross River and Kogi State have remained uninfected since the inception of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria.
