Breaking: Enugu gets a new case as Nigeria records 381 New cases of COVID-19 in 24hrs


Enugu State has recorded one (1) new case of Coronavirus infection which has resulted in 7 active cases and 9 total Confirmed cases in the State since the inception of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria.

This is contained in a report released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in the wee hour of Wednesday 7th May, 2020.

According to the Agency, as at 7th May, there were 381 New cases and a total of 3,526 Confirmed cases in Nigeria.

The report furthered that 183 new confirmed cases were repoted in Lagos, 55 in Kano, 44 in Jigawa, 19 in Zamfara, 19 in Bauchi, 11 in Katsina, 9 in Borno, 8 in Kwara, 7 in Kaduna, 6 in Gombe, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Sokoto, 3 in Oyo, 3 in Rivers, 2 in Niger, 1 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Enugu and 1 in Plateau.
NCDC noted that as at the time of the report release, there were 67 new recoveries and 4 new deaths, bringing the total number of recovery and total death toll to 601 and 107 respectively.

Current breakdown is as follows:

  • The 67 Recoveries were reported as 48 in Lagos, 13 in Kano, 1 in Katsina, 4 in Kaduna and 1 in Plateau. 
  • While the recent 4 deaths were reported as 3 in Lagos and 1 in Zamfara.
Analysis from the current report from NCDC indicates that Lagos has 406 recovered victims, 40 in Abuja, 30 in Osun, 10 in Edo, 11 in Oyo, 18 in Ogun, 14 in Kaduna, 10 in Akwaibom, 2 in Ekiti, 2 in Rivers, 2 in Enugu, 8 in Kwara, 6 in Bauchi, 6 in Ondo, 19 in Kano, 9 in Katsina, 0 in Gombe, 2 in Delta, 0 in Borno, 1 in Abia, 1 in Niger, 0 in Jigawa, 0 in Gombe, 1 in Anambra, 1 in Imo, 0 in Benue, 1 in Sokoto and 1 in Plateau.

The death toll as reported by NCDC indicates that Lagos has recorded 33 Deaths, 4 in Abuja, 13 in Kano, 8 in Katsina, 4 in Edo, 3 in Delta, 2 in Akwaibom and 14 in Borno, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Ondo, 1 in Ekiti, 2 in Ogun, 2 in Rivers, 4 in Osun, 8 in Sokoto, 1 in Kaduna, 1 in Yobe, 3 in Zamfara, 1 in Nasarawa and 1 in Jigawa, bringing the total death toll to 107.

The statistical report from NCDC also indicates that there are 1,052 Active cases in Lagos, 272 in FCT, 450 in Kano, 3 in Osun, 42 in Oyo, 51 in Edo, 80 in Ogun, 89 in Katsina, 16 in Kwara, 5 in Akwaibom, 96 in Bauchi, 77 in Kaduna, 12 in Delta, 7 in Ondo, 9 in Ekiti, 7 in Enugu13 in Rivers, 5 in Niger, 82 in Jigawa, 2 in Benue, 0 in Anambra, 111 in Borno, 109 in Gombe, 1 in Abia, 80 in Sokoto, 15 in Adamawa, 4 in Plateau, 62 in Zamfara, 1 in Imo, 15 in Taraba, 18 in Kebbi, 5 in Ebonyi, 5 in Bayelsa, 10 in Nasarawa, 12 in Yobe.

Cross River and Kogi State have remained the two (2) States untouched by the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
