N-Power/NSIP: Independent Monitors write National Assembly over mismanagment of the Program


The National Body of Independent Monitors of National Social Investment Program (NSIP) has written the National Assembly over an alleged mismanagment of the Social Investment Program.

This was neccessitate by the neglect of the program since it was taken over by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development under the leadership of the Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq.

It is regrettable that up till today 12th April, 2020, N-power volunteers have not received their monthly stipends. The delay of payment has been worst since October 2019 when it was handed over to the new Ministry. 

One of the volunteers, Miss Cynthia Abomege, noted that the most disheartening situation is the information gap which exists between the new Ministry and the beneficiaries of the N-power program. She added that the beneficiaries are hardly communicated or responded to, to ascertain why they have not been paid and when they are expecting their payments. 
"Initially it was rumoured to be on last week Friday but today is Easter and we don't even have what to eat because we have not been paid. Some of us have families and this lockdown and stay at home, no money, no food, we are dying." She added.
