Breaking: 86 New Confirmed Cases in Nigeria as Coronavirus spreads to Jigawa and Borno


The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the confirmation of 86 New Coronavirus cases in one day, in Nigeria. This has raised the total number of Confirmed cases to 627.

According to the Agency, as at 11:50pm 19th April, 70 cases were reported in Lagos, 7 in FCT, 3 in Katsina, 3 in Akwaibom, 1 in Bauchi, 1 in Jagawa and 1 in Borno.

Jigawa and Borno having received a touch of the ugly trend brings to a total of 21 States plus FCT, which have recorded confirmed cases of the deadly Coronavirus infection, out of 36 States in the country.

NCDC also announced the discharge of 4 New recovered victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and 2 new deaths bringing  the total number of Recovery and deaths to 170 and 21 respectively.

The Agency has noted that the report so far released in Nigeria is a statistical report from only about 7,153 samples that have been tested in Nigeria.

According to NCDC, the 4 New recovery were reported in Lagos while the 2 new deaths were reported as 1 in Akwaibom and 1 in Borno.

The analysis from the report indicates that Lagos has discharged 97 recovered victims, 23 in Abuja, 18 in Osun, 6 in Edo, 5 in Oyo, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Kaduna, 3 in Akwaibom, 2 in Ekiti, 2 in Rivers, 2 in Enugu, 2 in Rivers, 2 in Kwara and 1 in Bauchi.

The death toll as reported by NCDC indicates that Lagos has recorded 13 Deaths, 2 in Abuja, 1 in Kano, 1 in Katsina, 1 in Edo, 1 in Delta, 1 in Akwaibom and 1 in Borno bringing total death toll to 21.

The statistical report from NCDC also indicates that there are 266 Active cases in Lagos, 63 in FCT, 35 in Kano, 2 in Osun, 11 in Oyo, 8 in Edo, 7 in Ogun, 11 in Katsina, 7 in Kwara, 5 in Akwaibom, 6 in Bauchi, 2 in Kaduna, 3 in Delta, 3 in Ondo, 1 in Ekiti, 0 in Enugu, 0 in Rivers,  2 in Niger, 2 in Jigawa, 1 in Benue, 1 in Anambra, 0 in Borno.
