Government searches for Coronavirus contacts in Lagos and Ogun


The government of Lagos and Ogun State have begun search for no fewer than 200 contacts made by the Italian man who arrived Nigeria with Coronavirus from Milan, Italy.

The Ogun State Governor and Lafarge group made in a separate statement yesterday, that they have identified and quarantined 28 contacts already and the search for more contacts continues.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, noted in a press conference on Friday that the Italian whose identity is yet to be revealed tested positive in Lagos State after he had visited Lafarge Africa Plc in Ewekoro, Ogun State for a business appointment.

Prof Abayomi pointed out that the Italian flew a Turkish Airline from Milan to Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos after which he spent a night in a hotel around the Lagos Airport, before moving to Ogun State.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, in a separate statement at Abeokuta explained that the patient had made three contacts within the night he arrived in Lagos. The patient was said to have stayed in a guest house of Lafarge Africa Plc where their Hospital detected suspicious symptoms before they contacted Lagos.
