We do not want to be used and dumped -N-power Volunteers react

The beneficiaries of the N-power Program have taken to their social groups to depricate a statement credited to the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Develoment, Sadiya Umah Farouk as released by the Ministry's SA on Media, Mrs Nneka Ikem Anibueze.

".............. the non dis-engagement of Batch A beneficiaries after 24 months was done out of exigencies of the time........"

Reacting to the clause, the N-power beneficiaries wondered how they were not disengaged in 2018 because 2019 election was close and were disengaged in 2020 after the election and amidst COVID-19 pandemic, without a clearly pronounced exit strategy or fulfilment of the permanent employment, as then promised.

The Beneficiaries lamented that even though the Humanitarian Minister had stated a possibility of transition which has taken more than a month to actualise, they should not have been disengaged or payment stopped, until the transition process is achieved and concluded.

The N-power Beneficiaries had pointed out several statements from the previous handlers of the program assuring that, they (the beneficiaries) would not be disengaged until the transition process is concluded which was maintained until the transfer of the program to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in October 2019.

The Beneficiaries of the program noted that the viral publications on the Nigeria Dailies such as Daily Times, Vanguard, etc and Blogs stating that the Minister plans to employ the exited beneficiaries in Ministries, Departments and Agencies contradicts the official statement released on thursday which only implied a 'probablity'.

"Despite this, the exited beneficiaries are advised to exercise more patience and await the result of the efforts being made by the Honorable Minister who is currently engaging various MDAs including the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure that the eligible exited beneficiaries are transited to government progammes or 'even employment where available'."

The volunteers had demanded that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development discloses the exact plan the Federal Government has for them so as not to elevate their hopes on a 'use and dump strategy.'

Meanwhile, the Batch A beneficiaries of the program have decried their exclusion from the July Stipends contrary to a viral statement allegedly credited to the Humanitarian Minister stating that 'June and July Stipends' have been processed for both batch A and B of the N-power Program as the Ministry celebrates one year in Office.
