Npower Batch C2 Payment: We are suffering, beneficiaries beg FG

The beneficiaries of the Batch C2 Npower Programme have decried the continued delay in the payment of their Monthly Stipends.

In an online protest which commenced last week, the beneficiaries lamented that the current situation has thrown them into hardship, while tagging prominent government officials in several tweets https://bit.ly/3WfGCA2.

The beneficiaries have threatened to embark on Nationwide strike until their October, November and December Stipends are paid.

In a report captured by Sahara Reporters on Friday, some of the beneficiaries lamented that the Christmas Season is like a joke to them as they have no money to buy food for the celebration.

"Our government's decision to retain our three-month stipends without providing any justification is disgraceful and excruciatingly unpleasant.

"First of all, the Batch C2 Npower beneficiaries were deployed in September but we were asked to resume at our place of primary assignment (PPA) on the 4th of October which we did, and since then, nothing has been done about our stipends. Meanwhile, we applied for the empowerment programme in 2020. After so much delay, we were deployed two years after and still no payment till date.

"We are suffering and there are speculations that the minister said she has paid all the beneficiaries and does not owe anyone," one of the beneficiaries lamented.

Meanwhile, the management of the Npower programme has kept assuring that the beneficiaries would be paid in no distant time, soon or shortly, for over 3 weeks now.

Giving reason for the continued delay in the payment of the beneficiaries, the management stated that there are some beneficiaries yet to be deployed in States such as Lagos, Ogun, Osun and others, asides the ongoing ICPC investigation in the ministry.

Eight days to end the year and a day to Christmas, the processing cycle of Npower Stipends takes at least one week. It will be hard to believe that the beneficiaries will recieve their Stipends before the end of 2022.
