MSME Survival Fund: Over 1,500 CAC Certificates yet to be collected, 2,000 more in the printing stage - Enugu SME Agency

The Enugu Small and Medium Enterprise Agency has called on the beneficiaries of the MSME Survival Fund Formalization Supports grant (Free CAC Registration) in the State to visit the agency's office and  pick up their Free CAC Certificates.

The agency on Thursday lamented that since the completion of the first batch of the Free CAC Registration by the Corporate Affairs Commission, over 1,508 Certificates are yet to be collected by the beneficiaries in the State.

"We have over 1,508 Beneficiaries that are yet to pick up CAC Certificates for their Business Enterprises.

"We have tried to contact these beneficiaries using all available means, but unfortunately, our efforts have been futile so far.

"For the sake of transparency, we want to solicit the support of the general public and the ESME Community to contact these individuals to pick up their FREE Business Name Certificates," the SME Center stated.

The Agency urged the Applicants of the MSME Survival Fund Formalization Supports grant in the State to check their Names at https://bit.ly/UNPICKED-CAC-CERTIFICATES for immediate collection of their registered Business Name Certificates.

On 15th April 2021, the SME Center commenced the collection of the Free CAC Certificates. One year after the May 2021 deadline, less than 500 Registered Certificates have been collected.

"Failure to retrieve their certificates (directly or through a 3rd party) would leave the Agency with no other option but to return these certificates to the CAC office in Abuja", the agency warned.

The State SME agency in a message of hope to the thousands of applicants of the MSME Survival Fund Formalization Supports in the State disclosed that they are expecting another batch of 2,000 Certificates from the Corporate Affairs Commission in the coming weeks, noting that the process of the Business Name Registration is in the printing stage.

The Formalisation Supports Track is a component of the Federal Government N75 Billion MSME Survival Fund Scheme where by 250,000 MSME owners will have their businesses registered free of charge by the Corporate Affairs Commision.

According to the State by State distribution, each State would have about 6,066 businesses freely registered except for few States such as Lagos, Kaduna and Abia considered as the hub of SMEs - which would have a relatively higher number of beneficiaries.
