The current and 18th Premier of Alberta, Jason Thomas Kenney, has on Tuesday appointed a Nigerian born Kaycee (Kelechi) Madu as the new Minister of Justice and Solicitor General in Alberta, Canada.

Reacting to the heart-warming announcement, Mr Madu took to his Twitter handle to pen a humane appreciation:

"Thank you, everyone, for all the well wishes.  I am beyond humbled to accept my new role as the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General -where I will pursue fairness, equality and justice for all with every ounce of strength I have."

Kaycee Madu's appointment has been described as an optimism in Alberta's black community as his new seat is being celebrated by some in Alberta's community as a way to bring needed perspective to the justice system.

Until his new appointment, Kelechi Madu was the Minister of  Municipal Affairs, a role that propelled him in to the Alberta Executive Council from 30th April, 2019 to 25th August, 2020.

Mr Madu who has been a role model in Canadian politics was officially elected in 2019 Alberta General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the  electoral district of Edmonton-South West.

Kaycee Madu was in March 4th, 2020 designated as a 'Queen's Councel' by Lieutenant Governor of Alberta through an Order-in-Council, a highest honour awarded to lawyers who have made significant contribution to the advancement of law and society.
